Off Cuts: Writings on Sport (2008)

This book published by Axiom is a collection of articles, essays, reviews, satire and even a couple of poems published in a wide variety of magazines and journals since the 1980s. Around 70 per cent of the pieces are on cricket but others cover general sport, Australian football, tennis and golf. It includes fresh perspectives on the greats – Don Bradman, W.G. Grace and Wally Hammond, explodes the 87 Myth, reflects on footy crowds allowed movement and space, discusses the magic of Colin Miller’s blue hair as a museum artefact, and recalls the time when a baggy green cap could be swapped for a few beers.
