A slice history of the Ashes examining eleven of the most gripping and controversial Anglo-Australian Test matches from 1877 to 1993. This was my second book with Nigel Hart and we revised many of cricket history’s cherished myths about incidents on an off the field. Great matches are not merely close, they fluctuate and contain epic performances. Those chosen balance Australian and English wins and most of the key grounds are represented. The book was originally published in Australia by Wakefield Press with Andre Deutsch producing an English imprint. In 2005 the book was reprinted in hardback as Great Ashes Battles and then a second edition was published with the addition of the Edgbaston and Trent Bridge Tests, both under the Andre Deutsch imprint. In 2009 a third edition was retitled again as The Greatest Ashes Battles and published by Carlton Books. It included the Adelaide Test of 2006 and the Lord’s Test of 2009.
